Visitor Member # 685 posted June 02, 2004 04:43 PM I have Casmate Pro 6.04. All of a sudden, it won't output to my plotter (Roland 1860). When I hit plot, the loading bar appears, then I get the message: CAS_WIN caused a general protection fault in module PLOTMATE.DLL at 00a.
Then, Casmate shuts down. When I close down the computer, I get the message: Fatal Exception OE has occured at 0028:C0034FE3 in VDX IFSMGR(01)+0000297 I rebooted, then tried plotting by using the 'plot to comm' option (in the plot window) which worked, but only once. Then I recieve the same message, and Casmate shuts down. I tried reionstalling the drivers, didn't work. Reinstalled Casmate, now the icon is gray where you choose the plot options. I've got to get up and running, especially since I'm leaving on vacation Friday morning! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We use the same software and have had that problem in the past. Usually a reboot takes care of it. I have called ScanVec Amiable and they will only talk if I give them a credit card number. Kinda sounds like some Gerber threads I have read in the past. Good luck -------------------- Jerry VanHorn, Pres. I take it your computer is getting up there in age as well. My Flexi kinda did the same thing and I upgraded it to the latest (V6 at the time and they let me keep the old dongle), I thought my dongle went bad, for the heck of it (months later)I put it on my wifes compuuter and it worked fine, I toore the old computer down and nooticed my port went bad. With older software like that and an old computer you might try another older computer, but even if that works, you are looking at a software that is no longer supported or made so if you get it to work start archiving your files too.ai or.eps while you have the chance or upgrade to flexi which II believe opens.scv files. If not, Ricks 'dongle gone bad' scenario sounds like a possibility, or bad port which of course would be better.
As far as your greyed out plot options, I know when I've been trouble shooting sometimes in a rush I had tried to open a new blank page & charge into plot mode to check my settings or something, but I've learned that you have to draw a box or a letter or something to get the plot icon accessible, so thought I'd mention that just in case you tried the same thing. I bought Flexi 7.0 almost 2 years ago, & I've still stuck with the crippled CasMate limping along in its W98 world, just because I'm so capable & effecient in that program compared to learning something new. I will warn you that it opens CasMate files, but any text that has not been converted to outlines will have kerning distortions & corruptions that will be noticable on layouts where lines of copy no longer fit the spaces they belong in. But for loose lines of copy, that could mess you up on reorders where you think things will cut like they did last time you opened them in CasMate. Also, since you mentioned reinstalling things, & you mention different problems & errors, could it be that re0installing resolved one of the original issues. But created a new unrelated one that is a result of not getting your settings correct?
